Hi,
I%26#39;m planning to go to Oje Caleinte and made a reservation at the hotel. I%26#39;ve learned that the rooms do not have phones and the staff leaves at 9pm. My cell provider said that this area is considered ';roaming'; and I may or may not have service in the area.
So you could imagine what I%26#39;m thinking...
I%26#39;m used to traveling alone, and have always been very safe and cautious on my trips, but no contact with the outside world...
I at least need to find out if there is a phone in the lobby. Any advice/knowledge on the safety of this place?
Single Woman Traveler - Oje CalienteThe departure time of the staff seems weird because its always been my experience that the spa itself is open until 10pm.
Their website states that there is a payphone right outside the hotel entrance.
This is a big place with lots of people both employed there and as guests always around and I%26#39;ve been there at several different times of the day, evening and night.
I can%26#39;t help but imagine that there is at least some type of night watchmen or staff who is there in the case of an emergency 24 hours a day.
With all the lodging they offer including RV sites and camping, I just have to believe there is somebody on site to make sure all goes well through the night.
With its popularity, you should feel relatively secure by the sheer numbers of other like minded guests staying there.
Single Woman Traveler - Oje CalienteI have no personal knowledge of Ojo Caliente%26#39;s hotel, but while traveling through and in the immediate area I%26#39;ve never lost contact through my Verizon cell provider. Maybe that is not true with others however. Usually, it%26#39;s only up in the highest mountains in NM that you lose all cell phone signals.
Thanks,
I%26#39;m sure I%26#39;ll be fine, but it just seemed odd not having a room phone and everyone leaving. I%26#39;ll be sure to check around - just so I feel safe. Yes, they did inform me that Verison is fine in this area. My own provider said I may need to turn my phone off and on to link up with a signal.
I%26#39;ve been a single woman visitor at Oje many times and never questioned my safety there. A pay phone is available outside. I had cell phone service and wireless internet service. I appreciate that there are no phones in the rooms because it helps to keep the place quiet. It%26#39;s a great place to go when you WANT to be out-of-touch for awhile. sent from Red Wing, MN
