Hotel suggestions near I-40

I am a female traveling alone cross country. I am looking for a hotel that is near the highway and in a safe area. Money is not a huge issue. Right now I have found the Hyatt Place on Arvada and Hampton Inn Coors Road. Are those good options?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hotel suggestions near I-40

I would avoid the Coors/I-40 area even though it%26#39;s safe, there are several budget hotels in the area which seem to attract a transient/trucker crowd that might make you feel less safe than the hotels that are located near the Hyatt Place. Hyatt Place is also located within walking distance of ABQ Uptown..plenty of good restaurants there and a more upscale crowd.

Everytime I post that I don%26#39;t like the hotels in the I-40/Coors area I get flamed, but as a female who also travels alone a lot, I don%26#39;t like that area. I just get a creepy feeling there.

Hotel suggestions near I-40

I agree with Karma! I don%26#39;t live far from Coors/I-40, but I wouldn%26#39;t stay in those motels alone. Definitely go for the Hyatt Place. I would think the Marriott in the same area would be nice as well, but I%26#39;ve only been there for events. I%26#39;m sure it%26#39;s got some reviews here on TA, maybe check those out.

There are plenty of restaurants in the area as well as Coronado Center Mall and Winrock Mall (is this place still open??). We had a great meal at Macaroni Grill a number of years ago.

Another place I have stayed is the Hotel Albuquerque in Old Town. Plenty of places to eat and shop and museums as well.

Enjoy your visit. If you have time for a detour, maybe come visit Santa Fe.

Casa...you%26#39;ll have to check out ABQ Uptown. Winrock is only the two Dillards stores now.

ABQ Uptown has a Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Gymboree ( my poor wallet and well dressed son ), MAC cosmetics, Apple Store, etc. It%26#39;s very nice.

Cool thanks for the info on Uptown! I am a teacher, so I have no money, lol!!

We hope to take the Railrunner to Abq one Saturday and visit.

We stayed at the Best Western Rio Grande Inn some years ago and found it a good stay. No problems.

The Marriott, just off I-40, on Louisiana, is very nice, and opposite the new ABQ Uptown area with many shops and restaurants. Coronado Mall is also just a couple of short blocks away. There is also a

Sheraton nearby at Menaul/Louisiana.

The Hotel Albuquerque of Old Town is also a good suggestion. Just south of I-40 on Rio Grande Blvd. It is within a short walk from our historic Old Town area with it%26#39;s Spanish Plaza, picturesque church, and streets lined with former adobe haciendas now transformed into a variety of shops, and restaurants. If you can%26#39;t take in Santa Fe on this trip, this is the next best thing!

Generally speaking, I%26#39;ve heard pretty good things about the Coors Blvd./I-40 motels/hotels (there are 8 or 9)...';if'; one chooses the Hampton Inn, La

Quinta, or Holiday Inn Express, which are at the western end of Iliff Rd., away from the cheaper accomodations including a Motel 6. The plus side is they are only 2 miles west of Old Town, but there are few restaurants in the immediate area. I totally understand the advice from other women traveling alone however. I do hope you%26#39;re going to have a little time to visit while passing through. You would enjoy Old Town%26#39;s charms I think.

Have a safe trip!

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express which is at Eubank Blvd and I-40 and thought it was very nice. There are several restaurants within easy walking distance including the Owl Cafe which is a really good diner type place.

Hola!

I needed to update this post because I have recently learned more about the hotels near 1-40 and Coors, especially the Hampton Inn. My sister in law just stayed there for two nights over a weekend by herself and loved it. She felt very safe, and said the hotel was clean and her room was very spacious. The room entrances are from the interior, not exterior of the hotel, and she didn%26#39;t hear any highway noise.

Hubby and I frequently eat at Marisco%26#39;s Altamar, a restaurant within walking distance from the hotel, and we like it very much.

Well, now we know.

Best wishes everyone!

well, here I go again. I have to defend the I-40 Menaul-University area. It is perfectly safe, and several of the hotels are of a higher grade; the Hilton, MCM Elegante, La Quinta, Clubhouse Inn and Holiday Inn Express. I work in this area, and we have many single women stay with us without any problems. Yes, there is a large truck stop at University and Menaul, but I have never seen any problems come from there. It is easy on-easy off either freeway, close to restaurants, Old Town, Pueblo Cultural Center, Coronado Center, and other tourist destinations in Albuquerque. I would also add, we are easy access to Albuquerque International Airport, just about 15 minutes from any of the hotels. Check TripAdvisor for their recommendations in this area.
