gallery closing times

We%26#39;ll be arriving in Santa Fe in the early evening. Are galleries on Canyon Road open at night? Alternatively, can you suggest something we can do after 5:00 that%26#39;s not eating or drinking? Thank you.

Friday evenings many galleries near the plaza and on Canyon Road are open late and a few downtown museums are free and open! Kind of a quiet town!

Depending on when you are visiting, there may be concerts too. A number of bars/restaurants have local music at night.

Visit www.santafe.org and www.santafenewmexican.com and visit the Pasatiempo Magazine link.

Not much goes on in the evenings here, kind of a sleepy town. A few bars/restaurants but that is not what you were looking for. Sometimes the SFCommunity College has a planetarium show and Hyde Memorial State Park has evening star gazing sometimes.

Wish I could help more, but once we get home we don%26#39;t go out much at night!

I think many visitors are surprised that Santa Fe, one of the top, national, and international travel destinations in the U.S., has retained a ';small town'; atmosphere in many ways.

Here is another website with a few ';after dark'; recommendations. Finding some live, ';local'; music, would probably be your best alternative, after shopping, and dining.

Thanks for your help. I was really hoping to get a little jump on things we want to see, as we have only 1 full day in Santa Fe, and it%26#39;s not a Friday. I guess we%26#39;ll just wing it--it%26#39;s bound to be fun.

You can walk the Plaza, and check out some of the sights such as the Cathedral, Oldest Church etc even if not open. Also window shopping is fun! With 1 day, you will be able to see much of the Plaza and Canyon Road areas. Pick 1 or 2 museums, unless you are there on a Monday, then most are closed.

For a good overview of Santa Fe including Native American history, Spanish history and current Santa Fe as well as some good food!:

- Breakfast - Tia Sophia%26#39;s near the Plaza

- Walk the Plaza, visit the Palace of the Governors Museum, see the Cathedral and Loretto Chapel, do some shopping. This should get you to almost lunch time.

- Lunch - Plaza area tons of places...try The Shed, Pasquals, Ore House, Blue Corn Cafe

- Walk to Canyon Road to burn off lunch or drive if you choose. See galleries and shops. Maybe a drink/appetizer at El Farol or chocolate at Kakawa Chocolate House, 1050 E. Paseo de Peralta

- Head up to Museum Hill to see the Indian Arts and Culture Museum (if you don%26#39;t have a car, take the ';M'; bus). If time allows also see Folk Art Museum

- Dinner near Plaza or on Canyon Road. This will be hard to decide on, so many great places. Visit www.santafe.org to look at options!

Thanks alot!
