Missile range road closure?

I have read that Highway 70 between Las Cruces and Alamogordo can be closed periodically due to military activity at White Sands Missile Range. Is there a website, phone number, or radio station that I can use to determine in advance when it will be closed?

Thanks!

Missile range road closure?

I know for sure that the Las Cruces public radio Station KRWG-FM announces the closures, if any, during their news on the hour. They are at 90.7 on the FM dial, but they rebroadcast on different frequencies in different towns nearby (Silver City, for example, carries them at 91.3).

I%26#39;m not certain, but the NM Dept. of Transportation website may display closure info on their website at http://www.nmroads.com. They also have an 800 number for road info: 800-432-4269.

I%26#39;ve never seen it closed but, when it does close, it doesn%26#39;t close for that long, from what I understand.

If you%26#39;re really worried about it though, the army dictates when these closures will occur: www.wsmr.army.mil/wsmr.asp?pg=y%26page=202

I have only been stopped by a missile test once on U.S. 70, and that was for about 45 minutes. Plus...I got to see a missile launch from just a few miles away!

Aside from my personal experiences, a White Sands internet site says: ';U.S.70 may be temporarily closed during missile test activities. This is usually not more than once or twice a week, depending on test parameters, and the closures usually last from 1 to 2 hours.';

I wouldn%26#39;t worry about it for a minute frankly.

Thanks everybody for your information. Sounds great.
