Where I live it is called champurrado and I love it. Please recommend restaurants that have authentic New Mexican cuisine and if any also serve atole?
Atole and other New Mexican cuisine?
Plenty of Northern New Mexico restaurants here in Santa Fe, check their menus for the atole you are looking for. The Shed, Tomasitas, Blue Corn, Guadalupe Cafe, Gabriels, Marias, Tinys, Tortilla Flats. Check Tecolote for breakfast they have atole pinon pancakes, but not sure if that is what you are interested in.

Thank you or the reply. I have read a few good reveiws of the Shed and not so good reviews of the Guadalupe cafe.
I actually have the opposite view on those 2. Like the Guadalupe Cafe more than the Shed, but just my preference.
I had never heard of this drink until I was a guest at an Hispanic friend%26#39;s house during the Christmas holidays a few years ago.
In New Mexico, the main ingredients of the beverage are milk, blue corn meal, and chocolate, although other flavorings can be used I understand.
I cannot help with specific restaurants in Santa Fe, or here in Albuquerque who offer it, but I did find a website which offers a recipe if anyone wants to try it on their own. It is delicious! Now, pass the biscochitos please! (Mexican cookies w/anise.)

I think they have it at Lupe%26#39;s, this wonderful little place here in ABQ on Zuni SE.
If you come to Santa Fe you should go to Tomasita%26#39;s near the rail station. Tia Sophia for lunch, it%26#39;s down near the plaza. People rarely leave either place disappointed.
Wonderful recommendations! I can%26#39;t wait to to try them! Thank you!
