Best place to buy land

My 3 brothers and I want to buy acreage next to each other and live out the retirement years. We hope to live in an area to New Mexico that has a cool climate, trees, friendly people, small community near veterns services as two of them are vets. We have a heck of a time finding either four 30 acre parcels or one large piece of land that can be subdivided. We are not wealthy people but figure with our combined resources we will be able to get by and be there for each other as we get older. We missed out on a childhood that allowed us to grow up getting to know who we were lille lone who the other one was. Please help us with our second chance at a family.

Best place to buy land

I%26#39;d suggest looking for land around Chama, or the Rio Chama valley. This is a nice, high-mountain area with large tracks of medow-like land. Good fishing, hunting, etc., opportunities around, too. Check out http://www.chamarealestate.net/ and http://www.nnmre.com/ to start looking around for land.

Another area you might find of interest is in the Angel Fire/Eagle Nest/Red River/Cimarron region (in the vicinity of the Carson National Forest); eastern side of the mountains from Taos.

A couple hundred miles southeast of Albuquerque will take you to Ruidoso - Cloudcroft (Lincoln National Forest); beautiful country with pleasant summers and somewhat warmer than up north. Approximately the same distance, to the southwest is Silver City (Gila National Forest).

In general, the extreme southern %26amp; eastern sides of the state are hotter and (imo) not nearly as scenic.

If you tour any/all of these areas, keep in mind that this summer has produced well above average rainfall and things appear much more lush than normal. Ascertaining reliable sources of this valuable commodity should be near the top of your checklist.

You%26#39;ll be saying good-bye to a beautiful area of California. New Mexico is a great (and much less expensive) place to live; take your time and good-luck.

You might like the Silver City area, not too sure on veteran services. If you want a cooler climate your best best would be some place North of Santa Fe. Cloudcroft is a nice community down south yet it does offer cooler climates. If you are looking for better rates on land check southern or nothern NM. Central NM can be quite pricey.

ABQ has a VA hospital and services. Some of the small towns have Clinics that work with the VA but for major stuff you have to go ABQ. Take that into consideration with snowy winters and your brothers level of health.

You might look in to San Miguel and Mora Counties. Both are rural areas with lots of land. Las Vegas is the biggest %26#39;city%26#39; in the area. This is a very beautiful area of the state.

Anywhere in New Mexico, any piece of property, just make sure you education yourself on the water rights for that property. Sometimes available water can be an issue in drought years.
