I live just out side Memphis Tn.We are retired and am looking for a wonderful place to live out our lives. We are looking for weather that is warm not hot in the day and cool at night. It can not be to expensive, but we do like nice things. We want to spend alot of time walking to eateries, and things to do out side.We are not into mountain climbing, but want to be a little more active. My DH.is free lance photographer, and is very good so i think he would be very happy somewhere in NM.We are very active mid 60s.We would like to come out a couple of times this year.I have been reading your board for a while now and have gotten alot out of it.Thank you for your time and any help you can give.Ps we are coming for the balloon festival in oct.
looking for a new homeThere are not a lot of undiscovered retirement destinations left in New Mexico. You should probably cross Santa Fe off of your list because it will not meet the ';not expensive'; requirement while still being within walking distance of things.
You could look at Las Vegas. It%26#39;s really pretty, still relatively affordable and you could certainly get a place within walking distance of things.
There%26#39;s also Socorro (although that gets pretty warm), Silver City and Farmington. I also consider Glenwood to be one of the prettiest towns in the state, but it%26#39;s so isolated and has relatively little to do that it may not work for you. Also not sure what land costs there.
looking for a new homeI%26#39;ve been previously informed by TripAdvisor.com staff, that we are supposed to provide ';travel'; information, and not ';relocating'; information.
Having said that...with your criteria, I would recommend Albuquerque, or neighboring Rio Rancho. Mild winters, mild summers.
Silver City is popular with retirees, and also not too hot in the summer. Las Cruces is a nice community in Southern NM, but it does get hotter in the summer. I would not recommend Las Vegas, NM.
I might get ';heck'; from TripAdvisor.com%26#39;s staff, but your inquiry would do well over at www.city-data.com
If they could cut my salary, I would worry, but I do not get any as it is. :-)
Thanks for being interested in becoming a future New Mexican though. Oh, I might mention we%26#39;re around 60 today, and as is true much so of the time...SUNNY!
