How are the driving conditions in Angel Fire now

We are renting a van (rear wheel drive, of course) and driving to AF this weekend (1/16), staying at a house on Via Del Rey. Are the roads clear these days? Do I need chains? How about roads to Taos?

Thanks in advance...

After tons of snow in Northern New Mexico the past few weeks, we are now enjoying a sunny respite this week. No new storms are expected through next Monday, the 19th. There will be a couple of cold fronts coming down the eastern front of the Rockies however, and Angel Fire could see some minor snows as they pass by, along with the remainder of extreme Northeast New Mexico.

The highways are good for the immediate future...Albuquerque to Taos, and Taos to Angel Fire. There is a lot of road construction north of Santa Fe however. How the roads are ';in'; Angel Fire, I do not know, as many roads are dirt or gravel. I would check with the Angel Fire Police department for conditions on your ';specific'; Via Del Rey road.

Anytime you have a RWD in snow areas, it can be risky of course. Have a safe visit...the skiing is fantastic!

Many thanks Mr. Photojournalist - you are a great help to the board.

We%26#39;re really looking forward to the skiing and keeping my fingers crossed on the rwd van.

Or should I say Ms. Photojournalist...

The last time I looked, it was still Mr. NM_P! ;-)
