Detroit travel to Santa Fe, NM via Alberque or Denver

Hi

We are planning a trip to Santa Fe and looking for better priced air fares. We noticed the Air Fare from Detroit to Denver was a lot cheaper and then a 5 hour drive than from Detroit to Alberque, NM.

Any suggestions for better pricing or alternative travel from Detoit to Santa Fe, NM.

Thanks Lary

Did you check Southwest? They do not post their fares anywhere but on their own website: http://www.southwest.com. I just checked there and randomly entered data for a Detroit-to-Albuquerque flight in April and found pricing a low as $99 for a one-way flight.

That 5 hour drive actually is closer to 6 hours, traffic can be a problem through Denver (take the toll road) and through Colorado Springs. We usually plan a 7 hour trip, with lunch and restroom breaks. If you drive from Denver, possibly stop at Fort Union Nat Mon near Watrous NM and Pecos Nat Mon east of Santa Fe.

I would look at Southwest Airlines as mentioned, either into Albuquerque or into Denver and fly to Albuquerque.

I live in Denver and just returned from Santa Fe yesterday. We didn%26#39;t drive even though it is definitely do-able. We found an amazing fare on Southwest ($60 round trip) and flew instead because 3 hours of airport inconvenience and flying time was preferable than 6-7 hours of driving not knowing if the weather would be good or bad. Check out Southwest. Their fares were better than any other airline.

If it isn%26#39;t obvious by now, here in the Southwest, ';Southwest'; is the way to go...most of the time.:-)

I would not recommend flying into Denver and then the long drive south. There are better things you could be doing with your 7 hours in Albuquerque and Santa Fe.
