Hey guys, my girl and I were planning a ski trip for some of her family in March. Looking at some resorts in Colorado as well as Angel Fire. How%26#39;s the snow in mid to late March? I talked to a buddy who went during March several years ago, and he said it was all slush. He also said only part of the mountain was open. Is this pretty normal for Angel Fire in March? We will be saving quite a bit of money by going there as opposed to some of the larger resorts in Colorado. Can anyone give any input on Angel Fire in March? Thanks in advance.
Snow in March?
Each season in New Mexico depends on Mother Nature%26#39;s whims of course, some wet, some dry. ';So far,'; Northern New Mexico%26#39;s ski areas are getting lots of snow. Taos, Red River, Sipapu, and Angel Fire benefitting the most. You can keep track of how current conditions are at this website.

Being from Kansas originally, I know how limited downhill skiing is there, LOL! Have a great time!
Snow in March?
In mid to late March you%26#39;re definitely looking at the very last gasp of the ski season and it is difficult to predict what conditions will be. If we%26#39;ve gotten a late season snow storm, skiing this time of year is outstanding and you may not even need that big ski coat. On the other hand, like your buddy, it is not a-typical to be riding in slush.
Generally by mid to late March we are beginning to get a healthy dose of Spring time weather; it is not unusual to see temperatures in the 60s and 70s one day, only to be brought back to reality with temperatures in the 30s the next. By late March, we generally start to see our Spring winds kick up as well.
If you%26#39;re really hell bent on skiing, with this being your primary goal, I would also look into Wolf Creek (just outside of Pagosa, CO). They get dumped on all winter long and in my experience have some of the best late season skiing around; but again, be prepared for the posibility of Spring like conditions.
Hey I appreciate the input, guys. Yeah, we actually decided to head to Winter Park, Co for our trip. I%26#39;ll definitely be keeping NM in mind in the future, but probably for a January/February trip. Thanks again.
