Recommendations: Food, Nightlife, must see

Greetings All;

Some friends and I (7 guys, not gay, not that there is anything wrong with it)are taking our annual ski trip to the Taos area this year. We are really looking forward to it and have heard some great things. I%26#39;ve scanned the forum but am looking for some current recommendations.

We will be in Taos from 1/22 through 1/26, we are renting a home in Arroyo Seco. We will ski at Taos and probably Angle Fire. I’m looking for ideas on places to eat in the Ski Valley, Arroyo Seco or the village of Taos. We’ve heard there is a casino near Taos, is it worth a trip? What about Bars, sports bar or live music? Any other must see or do things?

I really appreciate any help!

The Taos Casino is very very small. Might be fun for a night. Don%26#39;t expect Las Vegas!

Two GREAT restaurants in TAOS :

Graham%26#39;s Grill and Dragonfly Cafe.

Perhaps you can get better specifics from our Taos Experts, but in the meantime, you can check out the restaurant experiences in Taos, from other users of TripAdvisor.com here:

tripadvisor.com/Restaurants-g47224-Taos_Taos…

Restaurants, etc. can be found for the Taos Ski Valley, Angel Fire, etc. from their specific forum pages.

Taos Mountain Casino is indeed small compared to a few in the Santa Fe, or Albuquerque area, but you can%26#39;t miss it, on the road into Taos Pueblo. Three miles or so from the Taos Plaza (off U.S.64), and one mile before the historic pueblo.

Arroyo Seco should prove to be a good central location for your activities.

The historic sites are the top ';must sees'; for me. Taos Pueblo, Martinez Hacienda, the Plaza area, Kit Carson%26#39;s house, St. Francis de Asis church in Rancho de Taos (immediately on the right coming in from Espanola). There are also many art galleries, and small museums. Enjoy your experiences!

Eske%26#39;s Brew Pub was good last time we were up in Taos. www.eskesbrewpub.com . When my husband used to travel to Taos often, he would go to Adobe Bar at Taos Inn which has music. www.taosinn.com/adobe_bar.html A friend who was up in Taos for a weekend recently went to Alley Cantina for music, said it was good. www.alleycantina.com . Another place that has been recommended to me is Old Blinking Light. www.oldblinkinglight.com

Have fun. We%26#39;ve had lots of snow in Northern NM, skiing is great!

Since you will be staying in Seco the closest restaurant will be Sabrosa, which has a nice bar to relax in. Maverick Ranch is a great place for lunch in Seco, as is Taos Cow Ice Cream. Up in the Ski Valley you may want to try the Bavarian for either lunch or dinner.

The next closest restaurant (5 minutes)will be The Old Blinking Light. Good food, entertainment, a bar, and a liquor store also.

Heading in to town you will pass Orlandos(for great northern NM cuisine), as well as El Meze, which has wonderful Morrocan influenced Spanish cuisine. Many people pass by Guadalajara Grill, but it has great, inexpensive Mexican food and is a favorite of most locals. There are 2 Guadalajara Grills with a combined seating of 250 in a town of 6000. That should tell you something.

The casino is small, but does have Black Jack as well as some Poker. No smoking or alcohol at the casino.

Adobe Bar and Alley Cantina are two good bars. Eskes is REALLY small and can be quite crowded at this time of year. Shadows is the newest Sports Bar.

Thank you Everyone! I appreciate all of the information that you have provided. The beauty of this site is everyones williness to help other people. You guys are the best.

Looking forward to Skiing in Taos, meeting some of the local people and enjoying some good food and drinks!
