Recommendations for quiet resort with great spa and yoga?

I%26#39;m planning a trip to New Mexico for a week in mid June and have been doing some internet research but need some suggestions.

I%26#39;m looking for a quiet resort to stay at for a week which has a great spa, hiking, yoga or mediation classes that will not break the bank. I would be travelling on my own.

I%26#39;ve looked at the prices for the commonly quoted resorts with spas and they seem crazy. I could go to Jamaica to an all inclusive twice for the price of a one week holiday! I certainly would like to stay at a nice hotel but not for $4000 a week!

I%26#39;m starting to think that rather than looking for a place that specializes in these activities, it may be cheaper to book a room at a nice resort and then add on the activities a la cart?

Any suggestions?

check out The Lodge at Cloudcroft. The spa is small, and no yoga classes, however if you are looking for relaxation and solitude this place is great. it makes me think of a place celebrities would go to hide out, but I have never seen any there. it is very nice. if you don%26#39;t want to be around kids, don%26#39;t stay in the retreat. the pavillion is a separate bldg down the street. stay in the main building.

The Lodge in Cloudcroft is a good suggestion...9,000ft. elevation in the pines, about 20 miles east of Alamogordo, and 35 miles east of White Sands National Monument. In mid-June, it would be near 100F. in the deserts below, but probably only 80F. at Cloudcroft.

It is a beautiful, old Victorian-era hotel with golf course, spa, etc. You would probably want to fly into El Paso rather than Albuquerque if choosing it.

There are many resorts/spas in the Santa Fe area, the new Buffalo Thunder Resort being one. Bishop%26#39;s Lodge has a long-standing reputation also. Here is a list of places in the general Santa Fe area. Some smaller, and less expensive.

';Perhaps'; the best (and expensive) may be the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort %26amp; Spa just a couple miles west of Bernalillo, NM off US550. Bernalillo is 15 miles north of Albuquerque, or 45 miles south of Santa Fe on I-25.

Oops! The Lodge at Cloudcroft, NM.

Thanks for your comments!!

Look at discovernewmexico.com and spamagazine.com or google best value spas New Mexico and see what comes up. I%26#39;ve been looking into Ojo Caliente or possibly Riverbend Hot Springs in Truth or Consequences.

Check out Sunrise Springs just outside of Santa Fe. I%26#39;ve heard good things about it. www.sunrisesprings.com

Close enough to enjoy Santa Fe, yet outside of town for a quiet and peaceful atmosphere, plus affordable.

Also 10,000 Waves up toward the Santa Fe Ski Basin has rooms and a great spa, also affordable. www.tenthousandwaves.com
