Best Western Stevens Inn

On our last trip to Carlsbad, NM, we stayed at the Stevens Inn. Bad choice. Just checking in was a pain. I tried to use Best Western gift cards to pay for our stay. The clerk looked at them like he had never seen one before. He had to get the manager to cash them in which took a few minutes. We were given a room in the old section and it proved to be as stated in previous posts, run down. I tried to get a room in the new section but was rebuffed. The wallpaper was peeling off the wall, caulking was totally missing round the bathtub/shower, and the paint was chipped and scratched off the front door. It was clean but was dumpy feeling and in no way was worth $103. We tried the morning breakfast but it was as run down as the room. The choices were limited. We had cold watery scrambled eggs, salty and crunchy bacon and separated orange juice. The only thing we could stomach was the biscuits and gravy. At least they were warm. I filled out a survey and mailed it to Best Western Corp and recvd a email from the manager of the Stevens Inn. All it said was we are improving and hope I will come back. I don%26#39;t think so. My advice is to stay away from this hotel like the plague. Value for your money = very poor.

I will NEVER stay at a Best Western property. Ever. Never. Won%26#39;t happen. They are the worst company. Garbage staff, garbage corporate, garbage properties. Garbage.

Ok, so you don%26#39;t like this Best Western.

We stayed twice at BW Stevens Inn (1995 and 2007) and had less problems. Staff in 2007 was less helpful than the 1995 staff. They promised us a fridge but waited very long and we had to ask again. You definitely should stay at the upgraded rooms (they already were there 1995). Large and comfortable. Also it%26#39;s restaurant (The Fume) has good food.

We stayed in dozens of Best Western all over the world and we have good experiences with this chain and seldomly, very seldomly had a dirty room.

In three weeks we will be staying in another one in Australia.

Your report of your stay is so disappointing, as the Best WEstern Stevens Inn was for years the best accomodation in Carlsbad.
