Will be going to Abq in early March (4 nights) mostly for golfing. We%26#39;re renting a car and like to stay at a hotel where we could walk to dinner. Looking for a nice hotel, indoor pool and lounge on premises or close by. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
Mostly Golf
The Albuquerque Marriot ( on Louisiana ) is within walking distance to several chain restaurants ( ncluding the local chain Garduno%26#39;s )and would not be a far drive to other local favorites. It has an indoor/outdoor pool and there%26#39;s a bar and restaurant onsite. It%26#39;s also close to I-40, the major E-W freeway.
There%26#39;s also a Sheraton in the same area which has an indoor pool and a lobby bar, I don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s as nice as the Marriott.
The Hotel Albuquerque Old Town is within walking distance to many restaurants but has an outdoor pool.
I have not stayed in any of the hotels but have been in all three.
Mostly Golf
I concur with karmathecat%26#39;s good suggestions. The Albuquerque Marriott (Louisiana Blvd.) and the Sheraton (Louisiana/Menaul Blvds.) are also within easy walking distance to the new ';ABQ Uptown'; area which has many restaurants, and trendy shops. The Coronado Mall is also located nearby.
Other hotels in Albuquerque which ';supposedly'; have indoor pools (better double check though) include:
Albuquerque Marriott Pyramid - north on I-25
Hilton Garden Inn, Albuquerque Airport
Embassy Suites Hotel (may be Albuquerque%26#39;s best...rather isolated though, just NE of downtown)
Courtyard by Marriott (south of the
Albuquerque Marriott on Louisiana)
Radissson Hotel Albuquerque
Hilton Garden Inn Albuquerque (also relatively new)

Golf will be ';nippy'; in early March, dress in layers.
Have a great time, and thank you for visiting New Mexico.
Great ideas above. Just another thought... Hyatt Tamaya Resort in Bernalillo has Twin Warriors Golf, wonderful in house restaurants and even a close by ancient pueblo ruin, but the pools are outside. Just an idea...
We stayed once near Old Town at what is now Hotel Albuquerque. Quick walk to restaurants, museums etc. In the Old Town area we like to have breakfast and/or lunch at Little Anitas.
Enjoy!
Thanks to all for the wonderful suggestions and quick responses. Embassy was my first choice too, but it did look isolated. I will do some research and book today. We%26#39;re very excited about our first trip to New Mexico, but I had to chuckle about the ';nippy'; weather! I work in downtown Chicago (walk seven blocks from the train) and this morning the temperature is ELEVEN! Anything has to be better than that. Thanks again,
Pegweem,
Don%26#39;t underestimate the cool weather. We lived in Chicago for decades and moved to Abq two years ago. Desert-cool is different than lake-effect cool. The low humidity here makes 70 degrees in Abq sometimes feel like 60 degrees in Chicago!
Also, keep in mind that it will be quite cool in the am for golf until the sun%26#39;s been up a while (about 9:30 or so).
If you haven%26#39;t golfed Sandia or Paa-ko, I%26#39;ve heard they%26#39;re great. I%26#39;m not a golfer, but the hubby and friends all say so!
Happy travels!
Chick!
Thanks so much for the additional post! We leave on Wednesday and are looking forward to exploring a new City, and golfing your courses. I%26#39;ll take your weather advice into consideration while packing.

Peg - if you get a chance, try the Sandia Resort and Casino - they have a really nice hotel and their golf course is fun, challenging and affordable. We live in Pueblo, Colorado, about 4 1/2 hours north and just got back from a long road trip - we drove out to Marana for the WCG Accenture Match Play tournament in Arizona. We stayed in Albuquerque on the way out and also the way back home.
Hope you enjoy your time away from Chicago%26#39;s winter. So far, we have had a really, really dry winter, so the prairies and desert are just waiting for some spring showers.
Deb
Thanks Deb - we are already back. Tried to get on Sandia, but they were pretty booked and wanted to pair us up. We did golf at 18 at Santa Ana and Lodera and 9 at Los Altos. It was some of the most challenging golf we ever played because of the high wind conditions that were happening the three days we were there. We%26#39;ve decided we need to come back in the fall and try again. We did enjoy our time, and I appreciate all of the tips and advice received here.
Thanks to all!
