I posted this question as a ';piggyback'; to another topic, but am now setting up as a new topic and am hoping for some feedback.
After searching the forums and reading the many reviews of the property, I%26#39;m wondering about the area surrounding the Clubhouse Inn. I%26#39;m travelling with my 7 y.o. son later this summer, and the rate looks great! We%26#39;re just doing a one-night stopover enroute to Colorado.
Living in New Orleans, I%26#39;m always aware of my surroundings. So I%26#39;m wondering if the area by the Inn just SEEMS creepy, or is there a concentration of crime near the Inn? Also, will highway noise be a problem?
Thanks in advance,
Casey
Clubhouse InnCaseyno, I work in that area, and I can tell you that it is perfectly safe. Others might disagree with me, but I have worked there for 2 1/2 years, and had very few problems. The ClubHouse Inn is on the west side of I-25, there is a large plant across the street and one of the cities big cemeteries just down the street. The hotel is right next to a T-Mobile call center. On the other side of I-25 is a truck stop; this is the only thing negative about the area. There is a Ramada, LaQuinta, Days Inn and Hilton hotel all in the same area. If you want to contact me direct, I can give you more info about ClubHouse Inn.
Clubhouse InnI do not like the area, near a crossroads of 2 interstates... just too noisy and polluted for me. Sandiaman works at one of the hotels near there and has more information than I do I would trust his info.
If you want another area to stay.... look north on I25. There is a nice Drury Inn, Holiday Inn and Ramada Inn.
Thanks for the replies...I did check out the Drury (and surrounding areas) but the rate at Clubhouse is just too good to pass up ($79/night, including breakfast!) If I was staying more than one night, I%26#39;d probably consider alternatives.
Plus, I%26#39;m already looking forward to satisfying my craving for the original Garcia%26#39;s Kitchen, and this property is such a short drive from there :-)
There is nothing ';Creepy'; about the Clubhouse Inn area, but it is ';right next to I-25.'; I would at least ask for a room on the ';West Side.'; We used to have a ';contibutor,'; who railed against the Clubhouse Inn, because he had friends who stayed there, and their car was broken into.
Unfortunately, that can happen in the best hotels%26#39; parking lots. Probably even in New Orleans. :-) The wrong place at the wrong time syndrome.
I would definitely not leave anything inside your car while staying overnight however.
Have a ';safe,'; if all too brief, stay in Albuquerque. Come back and visit us for a longer period sometime.
I%26#39;ll definitely be requesting a room on the west side of the property...what%26#39;s a vacation without sleep ;-)
We%26#39;ve actually visited Albuquerque and surrounding areas before (hence the craving for Garcia%26#39;s)...last time we enjoyed our trip to the Acoma Pueblo. Even though we%26#39;re only staying one night, this time I%26#39;ll be taking my son to the Museum of Natural History and Science.
I hear you about leaving nothing in the car...the two things that my kids can%26#39;t stand about taking road trips with me is that we only stop for the bathroom when we stop for gas (which also means that I don%26#39;t tolerate whining about being thirsty). The other thing they can%26#39;t stand is that I make everyone unload everything at every stop...suitcases, empty ice chests, fast food trash, even the straw wrappers! It makes for less of a theft target, and also makes for easier cleanup when our road trip ends back at home!
