We will be traveling to Santa Fe on May 21 thru 28 and are looking for a 2 bedroom 2 bath condo to rent. Which is the best part of town to stay in? Any suggestions on day trips from Santa Fe, things to do in Santa Fe, best restaurants.
Thanks.
May 21-28 VisitI would visit www.santafe.org for plenty of info. I would look at the Plaza area, the east side, north side for lodging.
Day trips include Bandelier Nat Mon and Taos.
Santa Fe restaurants are all interesting. I guess it depends on what you want. Tomasitas, The Shed, Cafe Pasquals, Blue Corn Cafe all are casual places to dine.
In Santa Fe visit the Plaza area, our museums, a drive to the mountains.
May 21-28 VisitTwo other sources for condos would be www.vrbo.com
(Vacation Rentals By Owner), and http://vacationrentalsantafe.com/
I would hope you would include Albuquerque for a day trip. The highlights here would include a ride on the world%26#39;s longest tramway to the top of Sandia Peak, and historic Old Town, with several diverse museums in the immeditate vicinity. I would especially recommend the Albuquerque Museum of History %26amp; Art, and the New Mexico Museum of Natural History %26amp; Science across the street (on Mountain Road).
The Balloon Museum, off Alameda Blvd. in the north part of town, may be of interest, and it is situated adjacent to the massive balloon park, where each October%26#39;s ';fiesta'; is held.
The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, owned and operated by the remaining 19 Pueblo tribes of New Mexico, is also worth a visit. It features a Native American restaurant, museum, and shops offering ';authentic'; Native American jewelry, pottery, Kachinas, rugs, etc. Dances are performed on weekends at 12 noon, and 2pm (last time I checked.) Photography is allowed at this time. Note: Photography at the various pueblos is either banned entirely, or curtailed by specific rules, and camera ';fees.'; Taos Pueblo for instance, has camera fees, and ';off-limits'; areas. Also, never photograph anyone without their permission.
Driving to or from Santa Fe and Albuquerque, take in the back road between the two, NM-14. Also known as the ';Turquoise Trail'; (because of Turquoise mining), it passes through old mining towns such as Madrid, and Cerrillos. Madrid especially has some interesting arts and crafts shops.
Enjoy your visit.
