Hello Everyone,
I will be surprising my girlfriend with a trip to Las Vegas for our anniversary next month. We%26#39;ll be staying at the Encore during our time there. I want her to have a good time while I can remain budget conscious. Does anyone have any advice for how to get upgrades in rooms, possibly some comped items and some good locations to eat at for a reasonable price?
I am also looking to get a limo to pick us up from the airport. Can anyone recommend a reliable service with manageable rates? Thanks so much.

I%26#39;m happy for both you, and your girlfriend, but I think you%26#39;ll receive much better advice at the Las Vegas, NEvADA Forum, than the Las Vegas, NEW MEXICO Forum.

And so it goes... :-)

Gee, you beat me to the punch twice in a row! I may have to turn in my credentials!
Brookyn--You will REALLY surprise your girlfriend when you tell her you%26#39;re taking her to Vegas and you arrive in Las Vegas, NM!!
You%26#39;ve got the next one Mitch! :-)
Forestvillian: The folks in Las Vegas, New Mexico will be even more surprised when they see a 747 making a final approach into their airport. I hope they have time to move the two Cessnas aside, and chase the coyote off the tarmac. :-) Just kidding Las Vegasans. Don%26#39;t want to hurt your feelings. One question though. Are Vegasans also Vegans? Sorry folks, my mind gets bored waiting for those rare queries on Las Vegas, NM to come in.
Make someone smile today!
I think you people who patrol the LV, NM board are saints! I stroll over here when I want a chuckle and you always come through. Keep up the good work!
Dear BrooklynBorne -
I am accidentally in this New Mexico Forum, searching for something else, when I am stumbling upon your post.
I just returned from the new Encore that opened up last December. It was fabulous.
My only tip for you with regards to benefits at Encore or Wynn Hotels is to enroll in their players club. This is their frequent gambling club which over time entitles you to benefits.
I am not certain if you will get any benefits before you arrive for your first visit. I saw that you can enroll online, so you might try that now, and see if they email you any promotions.
I had been a previous guest of the Wynn and joined their players club, but had never stayed at Encore. My husband and I are not big gamblers (or even small gamblers) but we patronize the restaurants and bars of the hotel that we stay in. I received an invitation from Wynn to enjoy three complementary nights at the Encore, from which I recently returned.
If you want comped items, it is usually based on gambling play in the casino. You will get your players club card, you put it in the machines (or at the tables) and you get points based on your gambling. When you hit a certain number of points, you will receive, for example, a ';free'; buffet dinner for two (by then you will have probably put in about $300 dollars into the machine - maybe some will have come back out..).
The restaurants at the Encore are gorgeous, but pricey. I wish I had some reasonably priced locations to eat in the resort, but alas, I don%26#39;t think there are any. It is really 5 stars all the way.
If you want discounted show tickets, try Tix-4-Tonight which has a box office that sells same day shows discounted. It is located across from the Wynn at the Fashion Show Mall. You might try getting tickets to ';Love'; at the Mirage this way.
Good luck, and have fun.
P.S. I am not familiar with any particular limo service, but the ride is only about 5 minutes long, so I would save the limo money for a great dinner at the Encore or the Wynn and take a taxi instead ($10-20).

AnnMV ....you have excellent advice about Marin county and SF but ... dear, the Las Vegas you%26#39;re referring to is *not* in New Mexico!
Thanks to both of you for your postings! I too, used to offer information sometimes on mistaken, ';off-Forum'; postings, but have since found it better to send a private E-mail via T/A to the original poster, than to post it on the inappropriate forum.
';I think you people who patrol the LV, NM board are saints!';
Not so much. I have to be honest. If the OP is from any location outside of the US, I give them a break. I%26#39;m not familiar with which state/province/county many foreign cities are in and figure they%26#39;ve done their best and don%26#39;t know there is a Las Vegas, NV as well as a Las Vegas, NM.
When they are from the US, I assume it%26#39;s a reflection of poor concentration in geography class or the inability to read a map.
Or, perhaps both.
Still, I try to be polite.
I%26#39;ll never forget the time I responded to some US-based folks asking about Las Vegas Nevada and explaining to them that they had posted to Las Vegas New Mexico-- only to have them ask me if the hotels were cheaper on the New Mexico side of the border! Somehow they had gotten the idea that LV straddles the border between Nevada and New Mexico, not realizing that the entire state of Arizona lies between. Nowadays I always mention that there%26#39;s about 700 miles between the two Vegases.
