Days Inn Albuquerque Northeast

I am traveling through town with my two young daughters and sister for 1-night this summer. I have read good reviews of the

Days Inn Albuquerque Northeast

10321 Hotel Ave NE

I-40 Exit 165 %26amp; Eubank

Albuquerque, NM 87123 US

Does anyone here have recommendations. We are on a budget but need a safe and clean place.

A point to note:

We get into town around 8pm and really just need a place to rest our heads before we head out the next morning for the zoo and then onto TX.

Thanks!!

Well, if you%26#39;re coming from the west, you%26#39;re going to drive east past the zoo a ways to get to the hotel, then you%26#39;re going to backtrack west to the zoo, then backtrack east again to head to Texas. You might consider something closer to the zoo. It will save you half an hour, at least.

We%26#39;ve been debating the safety of that area and a couple others here on the forums recently. You may want to read some of those posts. Some people think it%26#39;s perfectly safe, others not so much.

p.s. I just spent a few hours at the zoo a couple of weeks ago and it was the best experience I%26#39;ve had there in a long time. There are several baby primates out that are too cute for words. There%26#39;s a chimp enclosure that allows you to get very close to the animals, and I think I could spend hours there, as the chimps are very interesting to watch. I hope you have a wonderful time there!

Just off the freeway, close to restaurants, a gas station, Starbucks, etc. and the Old Town area is the Best Western Rio Grande Inn. I believe their rates are pretty reasonable. This will put you closer to the zoo, and will still give you easy on/off access to I-40.

The Days Inn you mention is in a relatively safe area, jut off I-40, near Lomas Blvd. %26amp; Eubank Blvd. There are other hotels/motels in the immediate area. A Target, Applebees, and the Owl Cafe are nearby. Reviews are mixed, as is so often the case. See below.

Check out ';Albuquerque Hotels,'; here on the Albuquerque Forum for more choices if you wish to change your plans.

From the Day%26#39;s Inn, you would have about an eight mile detour back west on I-40 enroute to the zoo. Not a big deal. The Rio Grande Zoo opens at 9:00am, so I would get an early start (7:00am-7:30am, before the rush hour starts), visit our historic, and picturesque Old Town area off I-40 on Rio Grande Blvd. (on the way to the zoo anyway), and perhaps try a New Mexican breakfast at Little Anita%26#39;s at Rio Grande/Mountain Road. They have traditional breakfast also.

Have a very enjoyable and safe trip!
