We are going to take our kids to Carlsbad Caverns over spring break. I have read all of the hotel reviews and am pretty disappointed. Aren%26#39;t any of the hotels in Carlsbad clean with a nice staff. If someone has had a good experience with a hotel in Carlsbad during February 2009--please let me know the name of the hotel. Also--we have a 2 year old terrier mix that we will be taking with us so we need to stay at a hotel that allows pets.
Thank you! K

There aren%26#39;t that many great places to stay in Carlsbad, but most are just fine. I%26#39;ve stayed at a place that TA reviewers said was just horrible, and it was an ok place for a few nights. We were at the Caverns most of the time.
Since you have a dog with you, I would take what you can find. You will want to leave the dog at a kennel while you are in the caverns, too hot to leave in the car.
Days Inn, Motel 6 take pets.
Have a great visit.

There is a kennel at the Visitor%26#39;s Center...capacity 30 pets...and the fee is $4.00 per day, subject to change. I would call ahead from your motel.

You have every right to be disppointed in the reviews of Carlsbad%26#39;s hotels. Honestly, the Motel 6 is a good as 90% of them, and it is on the highway out of town to the caverns. I won%26#39;t even get into Carlsbad restaurants.
