My husband and I are thinking about Santa Fe the first week of July. Does anyone know what the temp is typically like? Thanks :)
Weather in July
You know how fickle Mother Nature is, but I%26#39;d ';guesstimate'; low 80%26#39;s in Santa Fe, and Taos, and upper 80%26#39;s in Albuquerque. Bring a light, rain resistant jacket though...July/August are our so-called ';monsoon'; months, when we get about 1/3 of our annual rainfall. (Usually just brief showers in the afternoons...and more common in the mountains.) Nights can also be cool after sunset at altitude.
Weather in July
I don%26#39;t want to disagree with NMPhoto, but your probably looking at closer to high 80%26#39;s to low 90%26#39;s the first week of July and generally, the monsoons rarely start before July 4th weekend.
The weather is easy enough to check on before you leave home and prepare for.
My experience has been that mid-June to mid-July is the hottest and driest month of the year. We get runs of several weeks in a row in June of single digit humidity. Very dry!
A good rule of thumb though is to expect about a 5-7 degree difference for every 1,000-1,500%26#39; in elevation you climb with some variation of course. So if the expected daytime high in ABQ at 5,000%26#39; is 95, up here at 7,000%26#39; it should be in the mid to high 80%26#39;s.
The other thing to consider is that we get a nice drop of anywhere from 25-40 degrees from the daytime high to the night time low every day of the year. Great sleeping weather in the summer, but kind of cold in the winter.
Come on and visit! Even if the ';monsoons'; are here, usually only in the afternoons and they end quickly, nothing like the weather in the east and midwest!
Opera season starts end of June/early July.
Enjoy.
I am always open to informed differences of opinion! :-) CamiOhio...it will be warm during the day, and cool at night. Enjoy!
Thanks to all! My only concern was that it would be so hot that we would not be able to enjoy it, but it sounds perfect to me. With an occaisional rainshower I might also get to see a beautiful rainbow. :)
There%26#39;s about one week in the summer where air conditioning is required, and it%26#39;s not in July! Great time of year to be here, the rain will cool things down from an already comfortable temperature. Albuquerque will be hot, but bearable. Enjoy!
