36 hours in Santa Fe

My husband and I (mid 50%26#39;s) will arrive in Santa Fe on Sat (March 21)about 3:30pm and leave Monday noonish for hiking in Moab via Durango. We%26#39;ve got reservations at a B%26amp;B off the plaza. We enjoy art, good regional cooking (doesn%26#39;t have to be fancy or the ';in'; place, walking, and getting a sense of place in the places we visit.

36 hours isn%26#39;t much time to do that...so I%26#39;d love to hear suggested itineraries from those of you who know and love Sante Fe. Thanks! Mary

Whirlwind trip.... check on www.santafe.org for more info.

Sat. March 21 arrive late afternoon. I would get settled into your B%26amp;B and then take a walk to a nearby restaurant for some great Northern NM food near the Plaza. Maybe The Shed, Ore House, Blue Corn Cafe, Coyote Cafe, Cafe Pasquals. Maybe stroll around after dinner, maybe drinks at Vanessie, Del Charro (also great food) La Casa Sena Cantina.

Sun. March 22 Visit Palace of the Governors Museum, Art Museum, Georgia OKeeffe Museum. Walk around the Plaza area. Have lunch... then drive up to Museum Hill for a few more museums including the Indian Art and Culture. Also a visit to Canyon Road. Maybe El Farol (Spanish Tapas) for dinner on Canyon Road, or somewhere near the Railyard... Railyard Saloon, Tomasitas, Cowgirl BBQ. Maybe a search for a great Green Chile Cheeseburger!

Monday March 23 Visit the Oldest Church, Loretto Chapel, St Francis Cathedral. Head out of town toward Espanola, stop and have lunch at Gabriels on the way. Make sure to have the tableside guacamole.

Hmmmm. Kind of late in the day for anything but a quickie spin through a few museums and most galleries close around 5 this time of year on Saturday.

You could pick up where you left off again on Sunday and add on Museum Hill with its five distinctly different and all very worthwhile museums.

The native american craftspeople lined up along the Palace of the Governors portal should still be out there.

Some window shopping would work.

I%26#39;m sure your innkeeper would be happy to also assist with ideas. Most better quality B%26amp;Bs pride themselves on being helpful in order for their guests to maximize their visit.

Thank you, thank you! You%26#39;ve given us a great place to start. Mary
