Where to stay in Taos closest, cheapest to the Mtn with teens

We will be arrving @ March 20th.First of all will the skiing be still amazing or will we be getting heavy spring snow? We all ski east coast icy blacks so we may be in for a real workout but we are hoping for some fluffy powder, is it too late in the season for tha?. Also, I am confused about how far the mountain is to the hotels. I know there are several mtns but we want the biggest one.

There is only one ski area in Taos.. Taos Mountain, which is where I think you want to ski! Today per their website, Taos looks good with over 70'; base and powder/packed powder. Visit their website for info. www.skitaos.org

Nearby is Red River, Angel Fire, Ski Santa Fe. Check this link. www.skinewmexico.com

It is very difficult to tell how the snow will be when you visit! If NM gets more snow maybe good.. if not maybe bad. Weather is so very hard to predict here in the southwest. Most likely you will have some great snow.

Lodging is mostly in the town of Taos which is 20+ miles from the ski area (45-60 minutes) but there are a few places near the ski area www.skitaos.org/lodging/village_listings.php

None of my friends have been up to Taos recently, they have just been skiing at Santa Fe so I have no recent info....

Have a great time.

Generally a bad day at Taos equals a fantastic day in the east.

There is quite a good base, but we have not had much snow lately. However, Taos tends to be a great spring ski area.

If you stay up at the ski valley the hotels will be within walking distance to the lifts. If you stay in town you will be looking at about a 40 minute drive. There are also many B%26amp;B%26#39;s between the town and the ski valley.

Lifts open at 9am and the last lift is at 330 pm , so many people decide to stay down lower where there are more restaurants and things to do, and where the altitude is lower (7,000%26#39;) and it is easier to sleep for many who live at sea level.

Whatever you decide, it will be great.
