Is Hotel Encanto de Las Cruces a good place to stay?

We are driving through Las Cruces and need advice on decent, safe, place to stay for a night. We are thinking of staying at Hotel Encanto de Las Cruces. Is this a good place to stay? Any info is much appreciated!

Encanto%26#39;s fine. What%26#39;s your budget?

Budget is around $125 or less. We plan to head to white Sands in the morning. Let me know if there is anything else we should try looking at. Are there any good restaurants nearby for a late dinner (8 or 9pm)? Thanks for your quick response!

You%26#39;ll be fine at $125. The Hilton near there is also nice and should be close to that.

One of my favorite places in town to eat at, which is also open late, is the High Desert Brewing Company, but it%26#39;s not particularly close (but not far either) to the mall area (where your hotel is) and difficult to find. 1201 W Hadley Ave, if you want to check it out. There%26#39;s also an Applebees near the mall on Lohman whose kitchen will be open late.

You may also want to look into the new Comfort Suites on Ave de Mesilla and the Holiday Inn Express on Valley Drive if you%26#39;re still open to hotels. Both are very nice properties, are in your range and just a bit further from White Sands. I%26#39;m biased to that side of town though because I really like Old Mesilla.

The Hotel Encanto de Las Cruces is one of the city%26#39;s nicest accomodations, and their reviews here on T/A seem to reflect that.

I too would put in a plug for visiting Old Mesilla, immediately south of Las Cruces. The historic, La Posada de Mesilla Restaurant has been a staple there for years, but the few reviews, here on TA seem to be mixed.

Las Cruces is a relatively small city, so if you enjoy our New Mexican food, ask the locals, they usually know the best family/neighborhood places to eat...not just another chain operation.

Enjoy a safe trip!

One minor correction: I think the restaurant is known as La Posta, not La Posada.

We%26#39;ll definitely try to visit Old Mesilla. Thanks to all for the help!

It is La Posta. Very good food. Just not open late. Get out there for lunch, if you can.
